KZN CC AFM TONGAAT

History of the kzn cc

First Congregation of AFM Tongaat

The ministry in uThongathi, which means ‘a little place of great importance’ began as a pioneering work
with door-to-door evangelism being the foundation for the establishment of God’s Kingdom. In May
1965 at the young age of 23, the dynamic Pastor Paul Saul was assigned by the executive council of
Apostolic Faith Mission to plant a church in Tongaat

A young, well-dressed and anointed Pastor Paul, travelled daily from Stanger to Tongaat by train, spending the day walking the streets of Tongaat, as he spread the gospel. Pastor Paul desired to flow in the gifts of healing and after many months of perseverance and prayer, a breakthrough finally arrived. The power of God was displayed after he had prayed for a sick baby girl, Priscilla Govender.

This resulted in the salvation of the first souls at the current assembly in Tongaat, namely Mr Bala and Mrs Savithree Govender and their family. These pioneering members thereafter opened their home for prayer and
meetings.

Pastor Paul and Sis. Sheila Saul

The message of the gospel gradually permeated throughout Tongaat owing to dynamic home group meetings and door-to-door evangelism. Together with the help of stalwarts such as the late Sister Kantha, the late Sister Rachel John, the late Brother Isaiah Jacobs and Brother Sagie, the ministry in Tongaat began to flourish.
